BCCJ members enjoyed networking before and after the official business of the AGM.

Some 60 BCCJ members attended.

Jean Tomlin OBE, chief executive officer of Tomlin&Co, spoke at the BCCJ event “HR and The Olympics—Meeting the Workforce Challenge” at the Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo on 13 April.

VisitBritain, Watanabe & Co., Ltd. and RSVP Butlers Ltd. held a market event to showcase British goods, culture, food and drink, at Watanabe & Co., Ltd. in Minami Aoyama, Minato Ward, on 18-19 April.

Koji Nakao, chairman of Terumo Corporation, spoke at the BCCJ event “Medical devices to modern art: inside the Japanese boardroom” at ANA InterContinental Tokyo on 15 April.

Gary Rhodes spoke at a press event on 20 April to launch a series of culinary events, entitled “Rhodes Returns to Tokyo”, in association with VisitBritain and Cathay Pacific at the Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo.

Volunteers supported the British Embassy Tokyo’s booth at Tokyo Rainbow Pride in Yoyogi Park, Shibuya Ward, on 25-26 April.

The Duke of Cambridge joined Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and local dignitaries for a traditional meal in Tokyo.

The duke watched a short film showing how NHK covered the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami at its broadcasting centre in Shibuya Ward.

The duke was transformed into a samurai warlord on his visit to the set of a NHK drama.

The duke played with children at Smile Kids Park in Fukushima Prefecture. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe also attended.

The duke met Hiroyuki Takeuchi, former chief reporter of Ishinomaki Hibi Shimbun--which published handwritten editions after the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami and was supported by the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan's Back to Business initiative--in Miyagi Prefecture.

Yoshiro Mori, president of the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, met Lord Deighton KBE, former chief executive of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government offices on 17 February.

Transport Minister Baroness Kramer visited Tokyo on 29 January and viewed the Shinkansen training centre.

Students of the British School in Tokyo performed at the institution's Advanced Musicians Recital, at l'atelier by APC, on 3 March.

Philip Hammond PC MP, foreign secretary, met Fumio Kishida, minister of foreign affairs of Japan, in London on 21 January.

The junior group of the Japan-British Society held its annual Omochitsuki Party to pound rice cakes on 17 January.

BCCJ members attended a trip to JR Central's General Education Center in Mishima, Shizuoka Prefecture, on 29 January.

Some 40 students of Kokura Minami Senior High School, in Fukuoka Prefecture, attended a BCCJ event about doing business in an international environment at BT Japan Corporation on 22 January.
