Jude Kelly, OBE, chair of the 2012 London Olympics’ arts, education and culture committee, addressed the Beppu Art Project in Kitahama, the Nishi Nippori Shimbun reported in March.
Kelly, also artistic director of London’s South Bank, spoke at the annual modern-art event on “What kind of art attracts people to places”.
She said the artistic movement had grown in the area and that expressing oneself individually in public was important. “It is important to get art to complement the environment that it is in”.
