Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. will invest £420 million to manufacture its electric Leaf car in Sunderland, northeast England, in early 2013 for Japanese, US and EU markets, the Asahi Shimbun reported in March. Annual production eventually is expected to rise from 13,000 to 65,000 units, and 50,000 lithium batteries.
