A Northumberland-based engineering firm is set to supply a key piece of safety equipment to build Japan’s first offshore wind farm, bdaily.co.uk reported on 6 July.

Osbit Power Limited’s revolutionary access system will support Fukushima Forward, a project that aims to promote the economic recovery of the region following the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011 by making it the centre of the country’s emerging alternative power industry.

The MaXccess-T18 system, which can be operated safely and efficiently even in extremely difficult wave conditions, has been installed on the first dedicated offshore wind crew boat in the country. It will allow engineers to access the floating turbine and sub-station 20km off the coast.
