A Scottish firm hopes a Japan-Scotland Day will build better business ties between the two countries, the BBC reported in February.
Edinburgh-based Sakura Scotland has proposed the autumn event to the Consulate General of Japan in Edinburgh as part of a celebration of the “Scottish Samurai”, Thomas Glover, a key merchant in 19th-century Japan.
Thomas Glover scholarships send business-minded Scots each year to the International Christian University in Tokyo.
Aberdeen fashion students are creating garments for the event designed for the Japanese market, such as a cherry-blossom tartan called Sakura.
