The UK’s longest-established taiko group is debuting a new show featuring masked choreography alongside thundering rhythms, The Blackpool Gazette reported on 1 May.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Mugenkyo, which was founded by Neil Mackie and Miyuki Williams after two years of extensive training in Japan.
On their return, the pair established the UK’s first Centre for Taiko Drumming in a purpose-built facility in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The centre is home to residential workshops for the public and master classes for taiko players.
Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers are Europe’s only professional touring company and have taken part in more than 1,000 performances throughout Europe and Japan.
