Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) agreed to develop low-carbon and wind energy, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported on 21 July. SSE is the second-largest UK energy firm, generating more than 113 million kilowatts through its 120,000km network.
According to an SSE statement, “Low-carbon energy development is a great chance to help macro economic growth. We are expecting this partnership to exploit that to the fullest.” The two firms have traded since the end of the Edo period when Scotsman Thomas Glover visited Japan. He helped modernise the nation and build a dock in Nagasaki.
