Shionogi & Co., Ltd., an Osaka-based pharma-ceutical firm, agreed to collaborate with UK universities in drug discovery research, the Nikkei Sangyo Shimbun reported in January. In 2011, Shionogi will disburse about ¥100 million (£700,000) in funding, with a view to licensing promising drug seeds.
